Notes: this estimate does not include diagnostics, which (if needed) for ball joints should not exceed .5 ($40). This estimate assumes a coil type front suspension under 7500 GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight). If a torsion bar suspension, labor would be $408 at $80 per hour, and the lower ball joints would be $71.82 each – assuming truck is under 7500 GVW.

Many argue that when “any” front end component is replaced the vehicle should be aligned. This is just not true. With ball joints (outside of those with caster adjustments and those as part of the control arm, it’s not necessary to align the vehicle after replacement.
